There are a lot of people now who are trying to save gas expenses by either joining a carpool or by commuting using mass transport. Although no one could really tell anyone what they should choose between the two when it comes to cutting down on their gasoline costs, there are differences between the two that could be pointed out for comparison.
Going on a mass transport is really just okay, if you like being with a whole bunch of people in a bus or train. Of course, getting on a bus or a train is cheaper than sharing gasoline expenses with other commuters on a carpool, but it could also get way too crowded, especially during peak hours in going to or from work or school. Another thing about trains and buses is that you would have to go to some distances to reach train terminals and bus stops, unless the stops are near your place or you are near the subway.
While carpooling is definitely more expensive than riding a bus or train, it is way cheaper than driving your own car to work. This is because with this arrangement, you would either have people sharing the gas expenses with you or you will be taking turns driving your own cars. Plus, you cannot buy the comfort that you could get in riding a heated or an air-conditioned vehicle with just a number of other commuters, whom you might make friends with in day or two. Another good thing about joining a carpool is that you will probably get to known the people you are sharing a ride with and be less afraid, than when you have to get on a mass transport full of strangers.
