Joining a carpool is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to make friends. With carpooling, you won't only be getting a ride to work or to school while saving on fare or gas expenses, you could also form friendly bonds with the other commuters sharing the ride with you.
Although it is not that easy to trust people nowadays, you can immediately tell on who are kind of shady and who are genuinely friendly through sharing a ride with them. In a carpool, especially if the distance of your travel is quite long, you would be able to observe the people you are sharing the ride with. Through what they choose to do during your ride, you will be able to guess what interests they have and what they like to do on their spare time. Someone who'd burrow their nose on books is probably friendly but just shy, while those who eat and drink on the way are probably those who haven't had their meals and are eating on a rush.
Once you have gotten hold of the possible personalities of the people you are carpooling with, you can start a conversation by asking about their favorite book, music or food. You can even make friends with somebody who eats while riding by sharing some food with him or her. Because there is always something about sharing a ride, especially in such close quarters like a car, that gets people to talk with each other, making friends is really an easy thing when you go join a carpool.
